On February 21st in a meeting room at Old Thorns in sunny Hampshire, Tom Thiselton from Destiny Wireless presented to a group of 22 attendees the benefits of using Digital Pens in today’s workplace.
After a good intake of caffeine, the morning sessions kicked off with Tom giving an introduction to both Destiny Wireless and the technology of the Digital Pens including Anoto technology. Tom then proceeded to provide a ‘live’ demonstration of the pen in action, by completing a document and the transferring the data captured by the Digital Pen to his Blackberry via Bluetooth and then from the Blackberry to Destiny’s server. Using his laptop he logged into the Destiny server to display the captured form. Not only did Tom display the captured form but he also showed an electronic version of the form, where his handwriting was converted to text, where any misinterpretations could then be corrected, but as the pen learns your handwriting gestures over time it was indeed spot on.
After a hearty lunch break which included some stunning desserts, those wanting to discuss the Digital Pens in further detail stayed behind to share information they currently gather on their survey sheets and to discuss other forms that could be digitised.
All in all it was a great day, which ended back where it really began 24 hours previously, in the Sports Bar although only for a swift alcoholic beverage this time around.
The shortlist for the next stage of the Domestic Mover of the Year 2012 has been announced and I’m please to say that 3 are Move Administerusers.
The shortlist consists of:

Britannia Anchor Removals
Maidman’s Removals & Storage
Matt Purdie & Sons Ltd, Bathgate
Matt Purdie & Sons Ltd, Kilmarnock
MJ Christopher & Son
Reddaways Removals Ltd

Our congratulations go to all, especially Matt Purdie & Sons and Reddaways Removals Ltd as they have been shortlisted every year since DMotY began 4 years ago. The question is can a Move Administer user lift the coveted award for the fourth year running?! Our fingers are crossed!
The latest updates to Move Administer, and more importantly Survey Administer, allow surveyors to carry less paperwork during MOD surveys as Survey Administer now allows the capture of responses to the Insurance and AU Authorisation Declarations required by Agility Logistics on the Tablet device when used to collate an inventory of items to move.
The responses are exported from Survey Administer and back into Move Administer where the documentation can be printed with ease.
Survey Administer also allows these declarations to be printed onsite should the need arise.
Our offices will close at 1PM on Friday, December 23rd and will reopen at 9:00AM on Tuesday, January 3rd. However, should you unfortunately be working during this period and require assistance then please send an email in the first instance to support@administersoftware.co.uk. Should your needs be urgent please telephone our mobile (the number is shown on the footer of our emails ).
Wising you and your company a very Merry Christmas and prosperous new year, we look forward to being of service to you again in 2012!
As of December 1st, 2011 we will be offering an alternative means of becoming a user of Move Administer.
Subscription licensing is where software is “rented”, which allows customers to buy into the product while minimising their initial investment and exposure. Another beauty of Subscription Licensing is that you can review your requirements on a term by term basis and increase or decrease them as business dictates.
We offer minimum length contracts of 12 months that include the software being installed remotely on your Server and/or PC’s, full technical support by telephone, email and remote assistance, as well as all product updates. And, as a special offer until April 1st, 2012 we will include a full day’s on-site training, saving an initial outlay of £400.00 + VAT!
A single user Move Administer system starts at £165.00 per month, which equates to £38.08 per week, better still £7.62 per day! Adding an additional user increases this by a mere £27.50 per month! You can even add a Survey Administer to your system for an additional £55.00 per month too.
For further information please contact us.
Please Note: All prices listed exclude VAT at the current UK rate.
A big thank you to all that visited our stand at this year’s Movers & Storers Show held at Telford’s International Centre.
It was great to have such an interest in Survey Administer, it seems everyone wants an electronic device to assist with their surveys these days, and thankfully we have what we believe is the easiest to use system in the market place today.
It was great to see some fantastic trucks with some superb livery on display. Our congratulations go to APAK Removals & Storage winners of the best small vehicle category. And the packing competition brought in some strong crowds, with no doubt everyone commenting on how they would or would not pack the items into the container.
We obviously miscalculated the amount of people we expected to see as although we unfortunately could not get our renowned Crème Eggs for this year we did go retro with Curly Wurlys, Fingers of Fudge and Milky Ways, and seem to have come back with plenty (or was the miscalculation our way of stocking up body fuel for the forthcoming winter months!!!).
Big thanks as usual to the organisers Keith and Charlotte at Animo who put more than their body and soul into organising this event, we certainly appreciate it, but maybe next time more of you could show your appreciation for having such an event for our industry by attending.
Managing Director, Colin Wynn, will be attending the forthcoming DevConnections Conference & Expo during October 31st and November 3rd at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas!
DevConnections consists of over 250 in-depth sessions for several technologies, Visual Studio Connections, Silverlight Connections, ASP.net Connections, HTML5 Connections, SQLServer Connections, SharePoint Connections and Windows Azure Connections, all under one roof!
Several Keynotes will be provided during the course of the conference from non other than Microsoft.
Pre and post conference workshops are also available, and as such Colin has booked a pre-conference workshop titled “From Zero to XAML in 1 Day”, and a post conference workshop titled “User Interface Design Principles and Techniques”.
Administer Software Limited is making the biggest decision since its inception in 2004. We are changing development tools – and, in more ways than one!
Administer Software Limited has always used Clarion as its primary development tool together with its proprietary database engine. Managing Director Colin Wynn has been using Clarion since the good old MSDOS days of 1990, however, that is all about to change. From September 2011 all new development will be done in Microsoft’s Visual Studio, using C# to develop Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) applications within a .Net Framework, and using Microsoft Structured Query Language (MSSQL) as the database engine.
Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
WPF is a graphical display system for Windows and is the most radical change to hit Windows user interfaces since Windows 95. Windows developers have been using the same display technology for more than 15 years, however, WPF is the platform for the future of Windows user interface development as it offers the best prospects for future enhancements and longevity.
Microsoft Structured Query Language (MSSQL)
Changing the database engine to MSSQL will provide increased stability, security, portability and more importantly speed. MSSQL is known as one of the fastest database engines around, as data requests are sent to the MSSQL server where the request is only processed on the Server, therefore returning only the full set of results (at present a request is sent to the Server for data and a piece of data is returned and processed by the workstation before returning to the Server for more data, until completion of the request).
So, for many months we will mainly have our heads in books, and participating in online training schedules, while we try to master several new technologies, sometimes all at once! While we know this will be a long and daunting task we are very excited about the future.
We will shortly begin several rounds of questionnaires for our users to participate in to gauge what enhancements they could benefit from.
BT Infinity has arrived at Administer Software HQ!
With download speeds inexcess of 30Mb and a hugely increased upload speed of 8Mb this can only enhance our remote support service to our clients.
Having owned www.softwareformoving.co.uk for several years now we were recently offered the opportunity to purchase www.softwareformoving.com, a domain used by a previous software vendor to the Removal & Storage industry based in the States.
After a few rounds of negotiation we finally came to agreement on price and can announce that we now own www.softwareformoving.com.
After this clever and strategic move we are lookiing at using Software For Moving as our future strap line, after all, it makes perfect sense.
